Introduction

There wasn’t long to wait for more details on the Super F/X chip, with Starfox being the first game announced to take advantage of the chip. The details came from the CES show in Las Vegas, along with many new games and news about the Mario movie. As well as that, their Japanese correspondent Peter Evans gave us a guided tour of Akihabara - Tokyo’s electronic jungle and gaming paradise. 

Once again, there were a large number of games reviewed with 12 import and 7 uk releases. Star of the show was Assault Suits Valken, from Japan - scoring 90%, the slightly better known Tiny Toon Adventures scored 89% from the USA, the UK release of Jimmy Connors’ Pro Tennis Tour scored 88% and Prince of Persia scored 89%. Another four games scored over 80%. They also looked at the SNES’s multitap and some of the games that made the best use of it.

Guides this month looked at dome of the previous months best games - Desert Strike, Actraiser and Another World. Gamefreak was expanded to a second page this month, and there were another four pages of tips.What Cart this issue showcased the top 5 shoot-em-ups, game characters and golf games.
