Introduction

Issue 70 came with another free DVD, looking at various new games, plus all the major games from E3. There were also the demos of Miyamoto playing both the new Zelda games as well as a smash bros competition.

The big game this month looked at Star Wars once again, with a preview of the clone wars game. They also had a big preview of Metroid Prime, looking at various aspects of how the game would work. Timesplitters 2, Wind Waker and Mario Sunshine had big previews, with Mario Sunshine being almost ready for its Japanese release. Elsewhere they deliberated whether Rare was to go multi-format and what that meant for their relationship with Nintendo, and they also looked into rumours that the Gamecube was going to be Nintendo’s last console.

There was a big ideas factory feature this month, looking at what readers wanted to see in Mario Kart on the Gamecube, with Double Dash!! still a couple of years away, they let readers' minds go rampant, with plenty of new ideas for the game.

After the initial wave of Gamecube releases the influx of games had died down by August, but there were still a couple of fairly decent releases. Deck building strategy game  Lost Kingdoms was the best with 86%, whilst James Bond 007: Agent Under Fire scored 70%, with Geraint comparing various aspects of the game to Goldeneye. They also reviewed all the best GBA games, and the USA versions of WWE X8 and Bomberman Generation.

Tips looked at the Break the Targets game from Smash Bros, as well as various tips for Pikmin. At the back of the mag we spent a humorous day in the life of Geraint as his trip to the office was transported to a video game universe and promptly got lost in the sewers and faced off against a final boss of Tim (aka The Weavernator). There was also a competition to win a trip for two to New York.
