Introduction

The team took their annual trip to E3 this issue, albeit later in the year than usual. Mario Kart Wii was the game of the show, along with the wheel accessory. They also had the chance to play Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 and Resident Evil, the Umbrella Chronicles amongst many others. There was the first information about Wii Fitness (later shortened to Wii Fit). On DS, Mario Party and Donkey Kong Jungle Climber were the big games from Nintendo and there were plenty of others on offer, like Sonic Rush Adventure and Call of Duty.

Of course E3 dominated the news this month, although there were rumours that Halo would be coming to DS, as well as the news that the Game Boy name would be retired after nearly 20 years of hard service. Later in the mag they also covered what happened at E3 on the Xbox and PS3 as well as news about the Online services built into the Wii.

Chibi-Robo:Park Patrol on the DS was the highest scoring game in this issue, with 86%, with Kittsy praising the gameplay bundled into the small package. Mega Man ZX also on DS was the only other game above 80%. Last month’s big preview - Boogie scored a dismal 60%, with the main issue being that the songs involved were knock-offs of the original.

World of Nintendo this month covered the secrets in Resident Evil 4, as well as showcasing all the DS game icons on a massive two-page spread. There was also a look back on some of Nintendo’s best E3 moments, including some of the things that were on display and never made it to release, such as the original (superfat) DS. They announced the results of issue 10’s competition to design a Wii controller, and showed some of the best designs sent in by readers.

Superstar developer Konami was featured in Download this month, who had made some awesome games over time, and dug up some old classics such as Sparkster and Mystical Ninja on the N64. They also featured several games that they wanted on Wiiware, including classics such as Day of the Tentacle and Virus.
