Introduction

WWE took over the cover of issue 11, as Smackdown vs Raw was the big game preview. They looked at both the Wii and DS version, with the team confident that the game would be one of the great new games on both consoles. Donkey Kong Bongo Blast was another Wii preview, and was actually a rebuilt version, that was originally on Gamecube and utilised the bongos. There were plenty of other games previewed, as they prepared themselves for E3. The big news story this month was that there were over 6 million sales of Wii consoles, and the DS was also breaking records, with over 2.5 million consoles made.

The big review this month was the US version of Super Paper Mario, Mark gave it 88%, with plenty of innovation on show, however it still looked like a Gamecube game. Mario Strikers Charged was also released this month, and it fared almost the opposite, with Kittsy giving it 78%, and praising the graphics, but the gameplay was very similar to the first game on Gamecube. The US version of Pokemon Diamond and Pear was also reviewed this month, scoring 81%, as well as two Final Fantasy games on DS.

This month they featured 20 Nintendo moments that you probably haven’t experienced, covering some of the obscure games on Nintendo consoles and obscure features from some of the more popular games. World of Nintendo looked at Mario Strikers, and a quick guide of how to get online and play against the world. They also featured 100 Mario deaths as well as looking at Final Fantasy merchandise, also they got a chance to interview Yasuhiro Wada, who created Harvest Moon.

In Download, the history lesson this month looked at Koei who were mainly responsible for PC strategy games, they also had the second part of their guide to build an Arcade Stick. There was more news on the Saturn emulation scene with GameTap announcing they would offer Saturn emulation on PC, furthering rumours that the Saturn would make its way onto Virtual Console shortly. There was also more news about new Virtual Console releases, including several Mega Drive classics that had reached the BBFC for classification before release.
