N64 Magazine Issue 44

Introduction

Issue 44 once again featured Bond on the cover, but this time The World is Not Enough was the featured game, as the team got a chance to go to Derby to visit Eurocom and play it. They showcased one of the first levels of the game as well as the first shots of the multiplayer game. Elsewhere they had more info on some of the best games from E3, such as Turok 3, Banjo Tooie and Mario Tennis.

There wasn’t much to write home about in reviews this issue, as the flood of good games had another pause, NBA in the zone was the only UK review this month, and scored 69%. NBA courtside from the USA scored a decent 87%, and there were a few other mult-format releases.

There was an expanded Planet Game Boy in this issue, as they covered Mew arriving in the UK, as well as looking at the Pokemon film being released on home media. Carrying on the Pokemon theme they looked at getting a surfing Pikachu in Pokemon Yellow, and glitches within Pokemon Red & Blue. No five star reviews in this issue, but Pro Pool and Puchi Carat both scored four.

This issue started their Perfect Dark guide, which was done in a similar format to the DK64 guide, and they covered the first three levels of the game. They also tipped Tarzan as well as looked at various glitches and secrets to be found in Donkey Kong 64. At the back of the mag Mark looked at how various videogames were translated around the planet and various things that needed to be considered in different markets, such as violence and nakedness. They also chatted to the man responsible for translating most of  the Zelda games.
