N64 Magazine Issue 41

Introduction

May 2000 saw the release of the English version of Pokemon Stadium as the first 3D Pokemon game, and N64 Magazine duly gave Pokemon it’s first (and certainly not last!) cover. The game scored 90% with the team praising the Transfer pack functionality with the game boy games, and the fact you could play your Game Boy versions on the big screen. Elsewhere, both International Track & Field 2000 and the first Tony Hawk’s scored 86%. Over in Planet Game Boy, the star of the issue was Metal Gear Solid, giving that five stats, plus they also looked at Wario Land and Molemania in their retro section.

This issue marked the end of an era as Tim, Jes and Wil all departed, although they all would have important parts to play in future iterations of the magazine. In previews, Zelda gained its final form, finally being titled Majora’s Mask, whilst they also got their hands on the first screenshots of Bond’s second game The World is Not Enough. They also got their hands on Stunt Racer 64, and took a look at some of the lost N64 games, such as Conker 64, Super Mario Adventure and Mother 3.

Guides this issue looked at Ridge Racer 64 and the bonus levels of Resident Evil 2, whilst Skill Club Millenium got its first entries printed. At the back of the mag Tim looked at some of the bad guys of Nintendo and why they continually failed with their plans. Included were such beloved bad guys Bowser, King K Rool and Ganon, as well as (the expertly played by Sean Bean) Trevelyan from Goldeneye
