Introduction

With this issue the team jetted off to Tokyo and managed to get their hands on a gluttony of information from Nintendo about Zelda: Majora's Mask (at the time titled Zelda Gaiden), and needless to say they were suitably impressed. They also got a chance to interview Shigeru Myamoto, and were able to ask him questions posed by readers, including asking about the Dolphin (later to become the Gamecube) and competitors consoles. This issue also showed the first shots of Banjo Tooie, and what looked like an enormous world.

Two very different Rally games took top billing in reviews this issue, with the silly kart racer South Park Rally scoring 88%, and the much more serious Top Gear Rally scoring 90%. There were another four reviews in the issue, with PGA European Tour Golf scoring 80% and  Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness 75%.

There were four How To guides this month, with the second part of DK64 tipping the next three worlds of the game. They also tipped Leon’s Mission A in Resident Evil 2, and looked at top Christmas games Turok: Rage Wars and Worms Armageddon. The back of the mag feature this issue looked at some of the Nintendo games that weren’t made by Nintendo, such as the three CD-I Zelda games and obscure mario games like Hotel Mario and Mari’s Time Machine.
