Introduction

For Issue 3, the biggest game in Japan was StarFox 64 with a full review - Jonathan took the game apart, looking at almost every aspect, including  a full run through the easy route of the game, scoring it 94% with heavy praise for the entirety of the experience. That made it truly one of the first must have games for the console (at least not involving Mario). Doom 64 also got a full review on import, scoring and ISS 64 launched in the UK scoring a very respectable 92% and putting Fifa back in its place. The only other UK release was Killer Instinct Gold, Marcus scoring it 62% with the only praise given for the quality of the audio.

In the news, the N64 also got its first price drop only 2 months after its launch - cutting 40% off its initial price, something that really upset initial adopters. There was also a further look at the 64DD, speculating on the many different aspects of the add on. Big previews this month looked at Multi Racing Championship and Mischief Makers, both showcasing the quality coming from Third-party developers. In other previews they looked at Goldeneye as well as had plenty more information about Zelda, including rumours about the extended 64DD version of the game. A new feature this month “Game Japan” looked at the latest news from Japan, including the fact that baseball games were doing extremely well on the N64. There was also a report about Starfox 64 being released with its pack in rumble pack, and a piece about Trading Card culture in Japan.

Continuing the Japanese theme, the first of many how to features dedicated to importing Japanese games was also in this issue, as well as another feature towards the back of the mag that looked at all the Japanese developers and what they were up to, including what games to expect in the coming months and years, covering games like Mystical Ninja and Bomberman. In New Goods they also reviewed a couple of import converters for the N64.

The second parts of the Mario 64 and Shadows of the empire guides were also in this month's issue. The Nintendo Hotline this month was dedicated to Wave Race 64, showcasing some of the best techniques for all the courses. I'm the best also moved to the Tips Extra section this month, with its own section just a month away.
